Adding a link in Google Buzz
Was I surprised when I saw that the newly released Google Buzz is using the same method for illustrating a bookmark as the one I used for my Banana Cargo project?
Sure I was, especially having launched the Banana Cargo a month ago.

Only difference is that I have only programmed my script to fetch jpegs, and the google version is quite happy to swallow png's too.

Low search volume keywords optimization
You may have heard about the low search volume keywords. Today I want to share an example where the whole content is targeted at low search volume keywords.
This method of optimisation is guaranteed to work. Here's why:
Throw in a couple of links from other websites (the more the better) to make Google and other search engines interested and you'll begin to see a stream of visitors flowing in.
Here is my example. I have recently launched the banana cargo design related bookmarks collection. (http://bananacargo.com/)
Among other interesting things, it is very good at targeting the low search volume keywords.
The trick is in the tag based navigation.
When you click on a tag, all the bookmarks with that tag are displayed on the page, along with the bookmark titles which can contain some not so obvious keywords.
So the tag is reflected in the title and has many occurrences in the content, allowing google to see the important keyword. There are plenty of other keywords in the bookmark titles which combined with the main keyword form an array of low search volume keywords which you can hit even with a brand new website and almost no referrals.
The result of such approach is a number of one-off hits on a given keyword, which often are very specific.
Its easier to get a 100 hits from low search volume keywords than 10 hits from highly competitive keywords (design bookmarks in this case).
I think it is a great little trick to begin attracting search traffic.
Other thing which I love about Banana Cargo is that all the content is automatically generated based on the pages that are bookmarked — someone else has already thought about naming their page, there is no reason why you can't use it. And the tag based navigation adds a degree of randomness to the content.
